“Stealth” A triangular faceted watch

Design submitted by Peter from the UK.

Peter says: I had an image in my head of a triangular faceted watch which looked like something based on a stealth bomber or the triangular shaped ufo from an episode of the X files.

This image developed into “Stealth” (you see what I did there?) A triangular faceted watch.

The watch consists of a triangular body with a faceted face sporting three displays (could be one with a 3d lens or cover separating them) These displays could be LCD, LED or e-paper.

The top display would describe the hours in either digits or blocks, the left display would show 10 min groups again in either digits or blocks and the right display would show single mins.

This format would also be able to describe the date, alarm, stop watch etc etc.

The triangular body would allow for an unusual strap which might look like a harness in race car or could be swapped for a chain or key ring.

The design is pretty conventional in its time telling so shouldn’t scare too many people away in that regard. The unusual shape and appearance may appeal to the hard-core TF fans and people who like their products a little different.

This design stands out from others due to its unusual shape and screen arrangement. The possibilities for a bespoke strap should also help it grab attention in the crowd.

  1. Looks good, Pete. I particularly like the green/black version. I am findng the blocks too hard to read, so would go for one of the digit versions. Hope it gets made. 5*/Y

    1. Hi Nev, cheers for the positive comment. Yeah the black and green is my fave too, seems the most appropriate to the inspiration too. Both blocks and digits would be possible on the same watch in modes so you wouldn’t have to choose. Thanks for the support sir! :D

  2. Definitely something for a sci-fi con! Nice work on the geometry part, and the different number styles are very good: fun and practical. The straps could be a bit more integrated, less overhanging from the case. But the harness appearance has its justification :) Good luck Peter!

    1. Yeah I could have gone for a sleeker look with the straps blending more into the body (that may have been more stealthy) but I liked the idustrial feel. Maybe there is a nice halfway house between the two? If TF to chose to develop the idea further they may well make the strap more subtle. Cheers for the feedback and support sir! :D

  3. I’m like dzign555, I like triangles and as Sam, the same point to the strap. Ultimately, though I have the same tastes as my friends Blog, it reassures me.
    5 stars and Yes, yeah!
Pressing the fifth star, the note is lowered? (this is not the first time)

  4. There’s nothing better than something that bizarre looking but feasible to be made. Instant buy for black+green version!

  5. Nice! Actually, I especially like the strap…=) It’s probably the best attachment version I think I’ve seen… It might need a little bit of tweaking, but the principle is sound. The black and green works best for me, and either display option is fine, though I feel that’s the least interesting component of the design. There’s nothing wrong with it, it just doesn’t make me go ‘Ohh’…=) Before I forget; the ‘sunken’ bevel on the display is also a neat touch.
    Good luck mate!

    1. Nice comment sir! ;) Yeah I can understand your thoughts regarding the display. I wanted it to be realistic and feasible but does lack excitment. Mybe this is where TF can add some magic. Im open to suggestions tho, a MKII is never out of the question ;) Cheers for the support :D

      1. Well, you don’t need to get that excited every time you check your watch, do you? =) You’d be worn out before lunch…

  6. Aha, here’s one of the other triangle designs of yours, Pete…very cool. I especially like that you’ve put the button’s opposite a blank side, so they’re easy to press. The crown on the Welder I’m wearing now sticks out as much as your y-strap, no big deal. I think that looks f’n awesome. My fav’s are pic 5, 6 and 7. 5 stars and good luck!

    1. Thanks a lot Xian, glad you likey! Yeah I got one more triangular design waiting to go on the blog. I seem have somewhat of an obsession with the number three when it comes to watches. I guess its because the 12/5/9 format suites the three faces of a triangle etc etc.
Umm Welder nice! I like their chunky industrial style, sadly haven’t been able to afford one myself (yet) :D

      1. I can’t afford it either–was relying on a friend paying me for some side work I did for him, and he flaked on me :(

  7. as a watch collector and as a hamilton fan i really like triangular shapes on watches… this reminds me to those Hamilton Venturas but whit a toky flash magic touch in it… i definitely would buy this one, hands down

    1. Thanks a lot Dave,
Im a fan of Hamiton watches especially the Ventura, so thats a huge compliment! Cheers
Also if TF did make this it would be a little more attainable to the average guy or girl. Cheers for the comment sir! :D

  8. This is an appealing design. The display could use a lens such that it will be built of only one single peace. Not sure about the split strap on the one side: It is unique, but could look strange and is possibly not very durable.

    1. Hi Pawel, my early version of this design used one lens/display but it looked almost too subtle surprisingly. Also I assume that if the face was faceted it would be difficult to make. I’d be open to changes if it were considered for development. Same with the strap really, I just tried to make it look different, so it may well not be the best solution. Cheers for the feedback sir! :D
